Also check and make sure the engine will rev all the way to 6500ish in park or neutral, if it wont then you problem is engine related.

May 05, 2015 · Thrust is a mechanical force which is generated through the reaction of accelerating a mass of gas, as explained by Newton's third law of motion. A gas or working fluid is accelerated to the rear and the engine and aircraft are accelerated in the opposite direction. To accelerate the gas, we need some kind of propulsion system. We will discuss ... May 20, 2010 · Accelerate until about 40 mph, let off the throttle. Then lightly press the throttle and hold it at 2,000 RPM's Then about a second or two later I noticed the RPM's would drop to about 1,500 - 1,600 Rpms and the grinding noise would start and continue until I let off the gas. This noise always occurs only around this RPM range.

Jan 27, 2003 · In this case, the engine is running at very low RPM, typically between 1200-1800. When you need a bit more power to accelerate, the "continuously variable transmission" lets the engine have some "head", so it revs up quite a bit, to typically 3000-4000 RPM. The dramatic change in speed and noise tends to surprise new Prius drivers.

•the vibration in park at 2000 rpm is unrelated to the vibration when accelerating. The 2000 rpm vibration is a distinct vibration. When acceleration, it’s more of a hesitation side to side shaking that is only there under load. If I cruise at 2000 there is no vibration. •if I put the car in 1st gear and accelerate. It vibrates.

May 29, 2014 · OK, so, I accelerate, and it just kind of stutters, or flutters a little. The RPM gauge moves to about 2, and the car moves, albeit slowly. It's not like the gauge just winds and the car doesn't move at all and then bucks suddenly, repeat, it is NOT that. I was fearful that it may be transmission issues, but there are no other warning signs.

When reaching a nominal speed and engine RPM the convertor comes on and locks the convertor forming a slip free drive. When you use kick-down or near full throttle acceleration, the convertor clutch unlocks. This allows the stator in the convertor to allow torque multiplication and give the vehicle its fullest acceleration.

When in gear, accelerating smoothly it does so evenly but it feels under powered. At 60 mph it needs to down shift to go over even small over passes. When traveling at low speeds, 40mph and/or if the RPMs are below 1800, the RPM gauge jumps and I can feel the surging. At 30mph the vehicle does Not buck but the rpm gauge moves like a metronome.

Ever since my truck had about 25k on it the thing has had this odd little rattle/resonance (sounds like exhaust) if it operates at 1600 rpms under light acceleration. It will make the noise as it passes the rpm if you accelerate a bit more briskly but after a certain throttle input point I think it passes the rpm too quickly to produce the symptom. You have absolutely no reason to fear if your vehicle produces a higher RPM in cold weather. This is a perfectly normal occurrence. It is simply something your car needs to do so that it can start properly. You should not be concerned if your car jumps up to 1500 RPM and then shortly afterward goes back down to a normal 800 RPM. Jul 11, 2017 · A car sputters when accelerating due to the fact air and fuel is not being properly mixed, therefore, forcing the car to run on unburned fuel. Another reason could be a weak transmission system that misfires when the engine experiences an extra load. A normal car reaction would be to open up the throttle upon acceleration so that the right amount of air can get in and mix with fuel for a seamless acceleration.

Everyone has their own idea of when to shift up and down. Upshifting too early (i.e., at too low a rate of RPM) "lugs" the engine and contributes to overheated valves. Upshifting too late wastes fuel. Upshifting way too late can cause major engine damage (e.g., thrown rods, scored bearings, busted gear teeth) if RPMs reach redline. Within these guidelines rests most of the tachometer and torque curve, so you should never commit these sins.
